The most versatile of lures, it is made up of a hook with a ball of lead surrounded by a skirt of buck tail or rubber legs. The head, through which the hook is attached, can be any shape ­ cylindrical, round, oval or flat ­ and is usually painted in a bright color.
Made for fishing at the bottom, and can be used with either artificial or natural bait. Jigs can be used for almost any type of fish in any type of water.
